Lionel Messi has been pictured making his way to Paris for the Ballon d’Or ceremony with his family in tow.
The Barcelona striker is hotly tipped to scoop his sixth gong tonight, after also winning in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2015.
Messi travelled on Barca’s club jet with his wife Antonella Roccuzzo and two young children after boarding the aircraft while carrying his Emporio Armani suit and suitcase.
Messi is bookies favourite to win tonight, having scored 54 times for club and country in the 2018-19 season.
Even after an injury-hit start to this campaign, the 32-year-old scored nine times in seven games in October and November.
Antoine Griezmann and Frenkie de Jong also travelled as they are on a list of 30 candidates for the award while Marc-Andre ter Stegen is also on the shortlist of 10 for the Yashin Trophy, awarded to the best goalkeeper of the year.
The four Barca players will form part of the official FC Barcelona party that also includes president Josep Maria Bartomeu, the board director responsible for the first team Javier Bordas, the Club CEO Oscar Grau, the technical secretary Eric Abidal, the director of Sporting and Institutional Relations Guillermo Amore and Barca Legends player and 1994 Ballon d’Or, Hristo Stoichkov, as per the Barca website.
The ceremony will take place at 7.30pm UK time in the beautiful theatre and opera house Theatre du Chatelet, in the centre of the French capital.
